Smooth interfaces between IT systems are essential in the face of advancing digitalisation. OpenCelium, a powerful API management tool that simplifies the integration of different applications, offers a solution for this.

In our latest tutorial on YouTube, we show step by step how the KIX service management tool can be seamlessly connected to the i-doit CMDB (Configuration Management Database). This is made possible by the KIX connector from OpenCelium.

Advantages of linking KIX and i-doit

The connection of KIX and i-doit via OpenCelium offers numerous advantages:

Efficient data maintenance: Automated synchronisation between the two systems reduces manual effort and minimises errors.

Flexibility: The KIX connector can be customised to meet the specific requirements of companies.

Regular updates: Regular updates ensure that the data stored in KIX is always up to date.

Seamless integration: The connector enables smooth integration so that different IT systems act as a single system.

Synchronise KIX and i-doit: How it works

Our YouTube tutorial shows how to use the KIX connector in OpenCelium to establish a connection between the two systems. The KIX connector allows configuration items (CIs) such as laptops, servers or network devices from i-doit to be automatically transferred to KIX and managed.

The most important steps from the tutorial:

Setting up the KIX connector: The KIX Invoker, which is responsible for performing API operations in the areas of configuration items (CIs), tickets and other modules, is introduced at the beginning. With the help of the KIX Invoker and the existing templates, the synchronisation between KIX and i-doit can be automated.

Connection and verification of configuration items: The KIX connector checks whether a CI already exists in KIX. If this is not the case, it is created automatically. The tutorial shows how information such as manufacturer, model, CPU, memory and operating system is transferred and updated between the systems.

Regular updating of CIs: A particular strength of the KIX connector lies in the regular synchronisation of CIs. New or changed information, such as added RAM, can be automatically transferred to KIX, which enables continuous data updates. This improves data quality and ensures that the information stored in KIX is always up to date.

Configuration adjustments: The connection can be customised. For example, you can create your own rules for the assignment of objects to make data synchronisation even more precise. The use of unique object IDs instead of names ensures that correct assignment is guaranteed even if device names are changed. In addition to the attributes already defined, it is also possible to synchronise further information with KIX without further ado. In addition to the attributes already defined, it is also possible to synchronise further information in the direction of KIX without further ado.

Change tracking: Another useful function of the KIX connector is the tracking of changes. As soon as a serial number is changed, for example, the system documents this change in the various KIX versions so that it is always possible to see which adjustments were made and when.

Partnership between OpenCelium and KIX

OpenCelium GmbH has announced a strategic partnership with KIX Service Software GmbH to improve data exchange and the automation of IT processes. By integrating OpenCelium solutions into the KIX platform, companies can network their IT infrastructure more efficiently and optimise processes. The new KIX connector enables flexible interface creation via drag & drop, while special business templates facilitate the integration of KIX with i-doit and Jira. Both companies see great potential in the partnership for joint synergies and future successful projects. Further information on our strategic partnership with KIX can be found here.
