Unterhaching, March 18, 2025 – OpenCelium announces the introduction of a new subscription model based on the use of API operations together with the 4.4 Release. This new model replaces the previous pricing structure, which was based on the number of business templates (interface templates) provided. All available business templates are now available without restriction in all subscriptions – regardless of the package selected. This means that restrictions on template usage are a thing of the past.

The new model divides subscriptions into four categories, which can be differentiated based on the number of API operations per month. This enables an even more precise and individual adjustment to actual usage:

  • Starter: Up to 150,000 API operations per month
  • Professional: Up to 1,500,000 API operations per month
  • Enterprise: Up to 2,500,000 API operations per month
  • Enterprise Plus: Unlimited API operations

“With this new model, we want to give our customers more flexibility and control over their API usage. It allows for more accurate scaling of resources and helps companies to manage their costs efficiently, while still being able to take full advantage of the power of our API solutions,” explains Jakob Semere, CTO of becon GmbH and OpenCelium GmbH.

More control, more flexibility

The decision to switch the subscription model from business templates to API operations was based on a detailed analysis of the usage intensity of existing customers.

The previous models often did not correspond to actual usage behavior. For example, customers with a Duo subscription (limited to one business template) generally had a higher usage intensity than customers with an Unlimited subscription. The new model enables a much more precise mapping of actual API usage. In addition, the revised model offers more transparent tracking of API operations per month, allowing companies to manage and optimize their usage in a more targeted manner.

Flexibility for companies of all sizes

The new subscription model is aimed at companies of all sizes, from small start-ups to large corporations. While the Starter and Pro plans are tailored to small and medium-sized companies, the Enterprise and Enterprise Plus options offer almost unlimited scalability for companies with high integration requirements.

“We believe that the new model will enable our customers to choose exactly the API operations they really need and thus create an even better basis for optimizing their business processes,” adds Jakob Semere.

More overview and transparency on the OpenCelium website

As part of the introduction of the new subscription model, two key enhancements were also implemented on the OpenCelium website:

  • A connector search function that enables a quick and targeted search for available connectors.
  • Detailed views of business templates (use cases / interface templates) that can be called up directly via the service portal.

Another new feature is the Ops calculator. This tool helps companies to determine the right subscription model based on their own API usage. It serves as a guide and can be used without guarantee.

How the calculator works:

A multiplier value is used in the business templates to calculate the API operations per item. An item corresponds to an object to be synchronized that is transferred via an interface – for example, an asset in Asset Management or a ticket in a ticket system. By combining this value with the daily frequency of use, a rough forecast of the monthly API operations can be created.

Notes for existing subscribers:

Existing subscriptions remain valid and can be used unchanged. All packages that have already been concluded remain valid at the previous conditions.

Note on existing offers:

Offers already issued remain valid. It is recommended that you find out about the new models in advance in order to select the best possible option for your own requirements.
